Eduardo Marturet Performs Recital at Home of Zaha Hadid
MIAMI, FL (February 9, 2015) – Steinway Piano Gallery Miami recently supported a rare performance event—a piano recital given by Steinway Artist Eduardo Marturet, Music Director and Conductor of The Miami Symphony Orchestra, at the Miami home of world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid. The recital was held on January 11 at Hadid’s oceanfront townhome. Steinway Piano Gallery Miami provided an ebony Steinway & Sons Model O grand piano for the event, which was the first solo recital Marturet has performed in nearly thirty years.
Hadid’s guest list for the intimate performance included notables in the world of design, philanthropy, real estate, art, and music, including: Princess Firyal of Jordan; photographer Iran Issa-Khan; interior designer Sam Robin; philanthropist Norman Braman and his wife Irma; co-founder of Design Miami Craig Robins: developer Jackie Soffer; designer Tui Pranich; architect Patrik Schumacher; art collector Cathy Vedovi; fashion photographer Bruce Weber and his wife Nan Bush; Blaine Trump; Jonathan and Criselda Breene; Cathy Leff; Athina Marturet; and others.
“Zaha and I have been good friends for many years through the Miami Symphony Orchestra,” said Marturet. “During a Christmas Eve party at the home of a mutual friend, I played a bit of piano and Zaha asked if I would perform a private recital at her home. I was delighted to do so—it was a wonderful, intimate event with some of the most interesting and eclectic guests I’ve had the pleasure to meet. It was very informal; I simply improvised arrangements, inspired by the personalities in the room. The Steinway & Sons piano was magic.”
Eduardo Marturet enjoys an active career on three continents. As the Music Director and Conductor of The Miami Symphony Orchestra, he remains deeply involved in the musical life of his native Venezuela and continues to guest conduct actively in Europe. A Steinway Artist since 2014, he has produced more than 40 CDs, ranging from a Brahms orchestral cycle to surveys of Latin America’s greatest orchestral composers.
“Both Zaha and I are thankful for a great evening which revolved around the gorgeous Steinway & Sons Ebony Model O,” said Marturet. “I was very proud to perform my first recital as Steinway Artist.”
